An evolution of the Nissan GT-R

Posted by

We've always been massive fans of Godzilla. The R35 is one of the best sportscars/supercars at the moment. We're putting it in both categories since it's closer to a sportscar price wise, but closer to a supercar performance wise. The original R35 GT-R was a crude thing. It ran great but it was far from ideally refined. The interior was below average, the transmission could still get hot and acted up if you did a few sequential launches, something that should not have been happening with a car of this caliber. Over the years we've seen it evolve into something rather spectacular however, even more so than the original car. The array of upgrades it's received over the years may have made it more expensive, but it's well worth it for a car which now has so much to offer.

After receiving mostly smaller updates for more than 7 years now, the GT-R finally gets the updates which it deserves. The exterior is the first thing to strike you as different. The V-shaped grille at the front has a different design and is much larger. The LED lights have been pushed further to the sides of the car and are better incorporated into the side vents. The new front spoiler gives the car more down force, and that's real down force that's been proven to be effective.

The rear end is much closer to the Nismo than we all thought it would be. The rear diffuser along with the exhaust tips has been borrowed (and is heavily based) from the the Nismo GT-R. The square look makes the entire car look really aggressive. The interior has been one of the most heavily criticized areas of the GT-R. The new one not only rectifies that problem but actually makes it a nice pleasant place to be in. It finally matches up to the rest of the car's performance.

The engine remains the same 3.8 liter V6 developing 565 horsepower in this guise. It's more than enough to propel the new GT-R to insane speeds in no time. To answer the question: Yes, the GT-R is still one of the best bang-per-buck deals on the market, despite the rise in price.

Furious Customs carries a lot of parts for the Nissan GT-R, make sure you check them out here.

Why JDM cars have been on the up-rise

It's not just here in the US, but in Europe, Australia, and even Japan. The demand for them has been so large that entire businesses have been opened for the specific [...]

The World of Drifting

With the popularity of drifting, especially in recent years, i thought i'd take the time and talk a little bit about that. With more and more drifting championships, with Formula Drift as the biggest one, it's normal that people would take interest in the sport. Drifting, in essence, is a driving technique where one intentionally oversteers [...]
