Lexus trademarks the LC F name

Posted by

Lexus just officially trademarked the LC F name in Europe, hinting that the next high-performance iteration of their LC might not be that far away. Have you already started saving up? Because we have.

The standard flagship (at the moment) LC 500 is no slouch. With 467 horsepower, it's more than powerful to stack up to its competition from Germany, i.e. BMW, Mercedes and Audi. The LC F promises to take the fight to the most serious performance cars however, taking the likes of AMG, M and RS head on. That's no easy task by any means, but if past F Lexus models are anything to go by, it'll be more than just compelling.

Given that Lexus likes to stick with the tried and tested method, we wouldn't be surprised to see the same 5.0 liter V8 under the hood of the new LC F. Forced induction is almost out of the question, Lexus has been adamant about that for the past two or three years, but what else is there? Well, a hybrid is not completely out of the question, but the electric motor will probably be supporting a V6 unit rather than the glorious-sounding V8 we've come to know and love. Lexus, if you're reading this, please make it and please keep the V8. No one cares about a few more ponies or one more mile per gallon. The V8 offers drama and character, the two most important features in a car such as the LC F.
