Lexus' New RC F GT3

Posted by

Lexus finally unveiled their brand new GT3 racecar, and boy are you in for a surprise. It's far angrier and more menacing than what the original concept made it out to be. Welcome then, to the brand-new RC F GT3 Racecar, set to compete in various championships both in Japan and in the United States.

The RC F GT3 has been in development for over 3 years. We saw the first concept back in 2014, at the Geneva Motor Show. It attracted a lot f stares, but not nearly as much as the actual car. It's obviously based on the road-going RC F Coupe, but with heavy modifications. The focus was put on making it a GT3 car, i.e. meeting all of the strict FIA regulations associated with the GT3 class. The beating heart of the Racing Concept is the well-known 5.0 liter V8, turning out 540 horsepower in this current guise. It's more than capable of propelling the 2,755 pound RC F GT3 to ridiculous speeds in no time.

Two race cars are set to compete under 3GT Racing liveries in IMSA's GT Championship, also known as the 2017 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Another car will be competing in the GT300 class, racing under LM Corsa team colors. There's no time for the RC F to rest, because it'll get put through it paces at the end of this month in Daytona, for the 24 hours of Daytona. The two 3GT Racing cars are set to compete, with expectations running high for the new car. Still, a lot of testing is needed and Lexus is aware of this. They intend on releasing a worldwide RC F GT3 for competition in Europe and Asia as well. We wish them all the best!
