The 240SX and the 350Z

Posted by

We're no strangers to comparisons and rivalries here. We've done a few articles based on the rivalry between the EVO and the STI as well as the Skyline versus the Supra. The thing is, most of those have been about vehicles from different manufacturers and therefore received lots of support and love from their respective fan base. What if we compare two vehicles from the same manufacturer however? Do things change then?

Well as it turns out, yes. And quite drastically. Take the manufacturer out of the equation and for some reason you have opinions which are far less based on personal preference and more on facts. We're fully aware manufacturers don't make direct competitors to any of their own vehicles for themselves, otherwise what would be the point. We can however compare older models with newer ones and see what's what.

This time we have two of the most popular track day/drift day cars, the 240sx and the 350z. Apart from being manufactured by Nissan and being offered as convertibles, you might think that they don't share anything else . I mean how could they right? The engines are different, the suspension is too and one of them weights a lot more than the other. They both however have one key advantage: plenty of modding capabilities and customizing options.

We've seen both of them get used for track days as well as drifting. It's not mutually excluded as well. Depending on which one you prefer and how long you're willing to go to make it ready, both can be made into track or drift cars. We've certainly seen lots of examples of both being done. Both the 240 and the 350 have been used as track cars by amateurs, and we've seen iterations of both in drift form in the Formula Drift championship. The 350Z offers more power right off the bat and is a little bit more stable for high speeds, but the lighter, smaller 240 is more nimble and adjustable.

Furious Customs carries a lot of aftermarkets for various manufacturers, one of which is Nissan. Make sure to check out our offering here and find out your desired model and year of production.

It's not just here in the US, but in Europe, Australia, and even Japan. The demand for them has been so large that entire businesses have been opened for the specific [...]

The World of Drifting

With the popularity of drifting, especially in recent years, i thought i'd take the time and talk a little bit about that. With more and more drifting championships, with Formula Drift as the biggest one, it's normal that people would take interest in the sport. Drifting, in essence, is a driving technique where one intentionally oversteers [...]
