DAMD Japan LFA conversion for Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S

The Japanese are the masters of imitation and have been perfecting this craft to compete on a global level with manufacturing and design. Whether is be car manufacturer to compete with US and European car brands or fashion & music movements spawning from American / European inspiration, the Japanese have always had a knack for this.

In comes the LFT86 kit for the new Toyota 86 (or Scion FR-S as known to American residents). This bolt on body kit transforms the car to look like a smaller edition of the Lexus LFA supercar costing over $400,000. It’s always hard to make a $25,000 look like a supercar, but they’ve done a good job at keeping the lines of the 86 while adding key design elements from the LFA.

The kit costs around $3,000-$4,000 in full. DAMD also offers a color paint option for a bit more so you don’t have to go through the trouble of sourcing it yourself.

While this kit might not be for everyone, DAMD spent much R&D on making this kit fit perfectly and designing a special tri-exit exhaust that is similar to that of the LFA. You have to at least respect the craftsmanship behind this kit.

The side profile of the car is fantastic. The kit looks right at home on the car, don’t you think?

The kit looks a bit better on this black example in my opinion because the grilles don’t contrast so much.

So, what’s the opinion here? Hate or love it?
