2016 Lexus GS

Furious Customs is no stranger to the Lexus GS. Apart from it being one of the best medium luxury limos, we also wrote an article in which we even declared it to be a good drift car. Not because it's inherently good at it, but because it's affordable and can be tuned to produce great results. The reason we're bringing this back up again is because Lexus has decided to update the GS for 2016. A generally great car overall just became that much better.

The GS is in a really weird segment, or rather, lack of. Its size makes it tricky to position in a definitive class since it's larger than a 3-Series or a C-Class, but smaller than the 5-Series and the E-Class. This might not have been such an issue if it wasn't for its relatively higher price. Whatever way you look at it the GS is an oddball, but one that we really like.

The biggest update to the GS can be found under the hood. There's a new turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder making 240 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque. The engine is the same one found on the much smaller IS and even the RC, but despite the GS' bigger size it has no trouble pulling the vehicle along at a more than decent pace.

The V6 engine in the GS350 now gets updated software bringing power up to 310 hp and 280 pound-feet of torque. Both versions are really good in the corners, especially when compared to the previous generations. Sure, they might still be a bit behind the Germans in terms of raw driving dynamics but when it comes to luxury and comfort, they have everyone trumped.

Furious Customs carries a lot of aftermarket performance parts for a lot of Lexus models, including the 93-97 GS, go ahead and check them out here.
